Operation Rainbow Canada

Operation Rainbow Canada is a private, all volunteer non-profit medical services organization which functions without paid staff and provides free reconstructive surgery and related health care for cleft lip and cleft palate deformities to needy children and young adults in developing countries.

The medical teams perform reconstructive surgery for children and young adults whose families could not otherwise afford them. The patients are drawn from the indigenous population of the host country, and often families travel days from their homes in order to have their children treated. In addition to cleft lip and palate surgery, the teams also perform reconstructive surgery for burn and post contractures. Without corrective surgery, children born with cleft lip and cleft palate deformities are shunned, ostracized, denied schooling and eventually succumb to a solitary life lived in the protection of their homes.

Operation Rainbow Canada also provides education and training to physicians and other health care professionals in the host countries to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. In addition to the surgical services, the group also serves as an educational program for Canadian plastic surgery residents, pediatric residents and anesthesiology residents.

Volunteer Positions

Operation Rainbow Canada needs a diverse range of talents and skill to succeed in continuing our successful surgical missions.

We need Plastic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Pre-Op nurses, Operating Room Nurse, and Recovery Room Nurses.  In addition, we also need participation from Residents and Nursing Students.

Aside from medical professionals, we need people who have accounting, educational, legal, website development, marketing, photography, videography, writing, editing, logistics, operations and charity experience. Even if you aren’t a professional or don’t have a background in the aforementioned, we still need your help. Over the next year, Operation Rainbow Canada will be working to further its public image, develop a base of supporters, and create a detailed curriculum based around a goal of sustainable surgical missions to underdeveloped countries.

If you would like to get involved, whether it be on the ground in our missions, publicizing upcoming ORC initiatives, or just supporting the cause, we could most certainly use your energy and expertise.
